No drama. No losing friends, as I did all that in the middle of the year and am much better off without them (thanks for finally defriending me, Kyle!). Family was just as annoying as it always is but was easy to avoid. Earbuds and The Fame Monster fixes a lot.

No severe holiday depression. I'm not sure what's made this year any different than others, but I haven't felt the intense post-semester depression I usually get this time of year. My sleeping hours are still quasi-normal, which accounts for a lot of that, I've realized. Also, I figure I've been put through enough already this year that the least my psyche can do is make its last few weeks psychologically bearable.

I have some stuff to look forward to before the year's end, so I'm not just counting the hours til 2010. Gaga is on Sunday and I got a pretty pretty party dress to wear while I was in Dallas! And I'm going to see Rae a bit on Tuesday while she's in town.

The grass is not looking that much greener in 2010. I'm going to be taking a lot of hours next year to graduate vaguely on time, my jobs might not be giving me very many hours, and I still don't have a car to be able to find employment off campus. At this point, I just hope I make it through alive and not catatonic from anxiety overload. Just thinking about it makes me want to die.

I started a Christmas tradition! Last night, I decided to watch all the Christmas episodes of shows I have on DVD. I watched SPN's A Very Supernatural Christmas, Arrested Development's Afternoon Delight, Sports Night's Six Southern Gentlemen of Tennessee and The Reunion, A Space Ghost Christmas, and Lost's The Constant (closest thing Lost has to a Christmas episode and what an episode it is!). I wanted to watch X-Files' How The Ghosts Stole Christmas, but I couldn't find it online anywhere. It has one of my favorite XF quotes: "If I heard Silent Night one more time, I was going to start taking hostages." MTE, Scully. ♥

Album: The Fame Monster, Lady Gaga. Goes without saying, I have been taken hostage by Lady Gagalupe since the Bad Romance vid got released. Even though I only love about two songs off The Fame (Paparazzi and Poker Face), I cannot get enough of this new direction of her's. I love music about vices and violence and horror and sex, especially when the horror is implicit vs explicit. Also, I pretty much want a SPN vid set to all eight songs on this album. Yes yes, all roads in my mind lead to SPN, but I really do love the music. So much so I'm going to see her on the 27th in New Orleans! ~SHAKING AND CRYING~ OMG I'M SO EXCITED!

Album: Lungs, Florence + The Machine. I feel so late to the party on this band, but Jesus Christ, I love them so. It has been the only music to break the three week long spell Lady Gaga has had me under. I love the mix of violent sexuality of Howl, Girl with One Eye, and Kiss with a Fist with the dreamy romance of Blinding, Between Two Lungs, and Cosmic Love; this band is right up my dysfunctional, bipolar romantic alley. If you like offbeat stuff with a female vocalist who sounds like Feist and A Fine Frenzy only less boring (sry2say), give it a try!

I think the thing I enjoy the most about this prevalence of orange/blue in film posters is that it's so goddamn easy to do from a design perspective. All you have to do is use the Kelvin temperature slider for white balance and put it to either extreme. Voila, instant blue or orange picture! I'm onto you, lazy designers! Or maybe film posters are being made by crappy LJ icon makers now, idk. :(

• Watching this at work was a surefire way to get some funny looks: literal video of Total Eclipse of the Heart. Oh God, I nearly choked myself from trying not to laugh my ass off. Funniest literal video I've seen since Take on Me. Staring at the swim team gets you killed by a gang of dancing ninja men who know how to twirl!

• Speaking of BSG, I could listen to the season 4 OST forever and ever. It's currently my at work/getting shit done/study music, because I can't concentrate on anything else when listening to music with lyrics. My favorites are Kara Remembers (piano cylon theme ftw!) and Gaeta's Lament. also, if anyone knows where I can download the s4 ost, I'd be forever grateful. youtube is currently providing the lovely music because I can't find a torrent that'll work for me. :(



• This week, I have broken my laptop probably irreparably by dropping it while it was on, aced two tests I didn't really study for, wrote an awesome paper about dissociation and post traumatic stress disorder in The Demon Lover, gotten asked out for a second time by a second guy that I am really REALLY not interested in but he gave me notes for the whole class for History of Christianity so I can't be too mean to him but I hope he got the hint this time and stays away, and installed the dragonfly wall hooks I got for my room from Target. Aside from the dead laptop and not having the funds to buy a new one right now, it's been pretty good. I get to sleep in tomorrow (whoa, 8:30!) and SPN and Fringe await me when I get home, so it can only get better from here!
